Lanes and river courses of Xin He Street, in 1940s, by Shao Du
   Although nowadays, the typical look of water town can hardly be traced in the urban area, yet over 60 years ago, the city shared many characteristics with Wu Town and Zhou Zhuang (typical water towns in East China): lanes, river courses, and ferryboats in front of every household. In this picture, we can clearly see the bridge over the river course and the city wall on Mount Song-tai in the distance.
